 Dear Friends of Blawenburg Reformed Church,

Greetings from Blawenburg.  As you may know, Blawenburg Reformed Church is on the National and State Historic Registers.  At 176 years old, it is showing its age.  There are problems with the foundation, the roof, and the interior support columns.  There are also septic issues on the property.  We need to address all these things, but in a time of dwindling assets and a weak economy, it’s been challenging to keep up with all our needs.

In January of 2008 we launched a three-year campaign to raise $500,000 for the Preservation Fund.  We are pleased to report that as of November 2008 we have pledges and gifts for over $265,000.  We’re over half way to our goal.  In addition to gifts, we have had numerous breakfasts and other fundraisers to help increase the fund.  We also have applied for historic preservation grants.

One tangible outcome of this campaign has been the much needed painting of the church.  The painting is almost finished and the completed portion has been paid for.  We are thankful for that.

We will appreciate any contribution you can make to the BRC Preservation Fund, no matter how small.   At a time when so much is going wrong in the world, your gift will help maintain the church as an important part of the Blawenburg Village for years to come.
